D) Talent Information

Talents

All character's have unique Talent's that can help them survive in the dangerous world of Horrorcraft. These are skill-like in nature, becoming more efficient over time as the character spends more time utilizing them. During character creation, a player may choose to begin with more than the allotted number of Talents. That's fine, as long as they pay for it from their Starting XP. If a character begins at the lowest level with 0 XP, they begin with only 2 Talents (or one Talent at a Rank higher).

Usually unique to a character, a Talent is a trait or ability related to one's conception, usually very potent in nature. For example, a Monster{Alien} (or Human{Mutant}, etc) may have a Talent that allows for it to spit a highly-corrosive acid from their mouth. As they spend more XP in that Talent, it becomes more and more powerful. Despite this, Talents are very simple in design and function, operating on the physical plane using visible sources. Talent's may only be raised to the character's own rank+1. (a skill can only be upgraded to rank 3 when the character has reached rank 2.)

Rank | Main Tree; Alternate Tree 1; Etc

  • E | 2 E Rank; One D Rank
  • D |Two D Rank; One C Rank; Four E Rank
  • C | Two C Rank; One B Rank; Four D Rank
  • B | Two B Rank; One A Rank; Four C Rank
  • A | Two A Rank; One S Rank; Four B Rank
  • S | Two S Rank; Four A Rank

In order to rank up a Talent, it will cost an increasing amount of XP as the Rank of the Talent goes up. Please note that these costs Do stack, and will require the full cost in order to rank up. XP cannot be put into Talents unless the entire cost of the level is put in at once. There is no limit on how many Talents can be discovered after initial approval, so long as the applicant pays for them.

Rank | Cost

  • E | 40 XP
  • D | 60 XP
  • C | 85 XP
  • B | 125 XP
  • A |200  XP
  • S | 300 XP

Mechanics: What actual math happens when this Talent goes into play? While it may use the Strength and Will stat, what does it do with them?

Talent Name: Birdcall

Origin: Because of their heritage as a Human{Mutant}, the holder of this Talent possesses a high amount of Bird DNA. This has caused warping to their physical structure, including their vocal cords.

Flavor: Whistling loudly in the language of the birds, the holder of this talent is able to summon and manipulate nearby birds and bird-like monsters. By learning longer and more complex songs, the user is able to summon more powerful birds as well as command them in more efficient, direct ways. Furthermore, by simply possessing this talent at an E rank, the holder is able to speak to nearly any bird or bird-like monster.
Contributing Stats: Wisdom

Mechanics: For every 50 points the user has in their wisdom stat, summon 3 birds to the area (at a maximum of 12 that may be given one simple task to perform.

Downfalls: Birds are simple creatures and will be destroyed by anything with a damage stat equal to or over 100. They can fly at 150 speed when diving, but only about 85 when flying around. By pecking and clawing with their quick claws and sharp beak, the birds are able to deliver 60 Strength attacks. Every use of Birdcall costs 15 energy.
